The Afan Valley Adventure Resort will be a unique destination for those seeking adrenaline-fuelled indoor and outdoor activities in the UK.
Peter Moore, the man responsible for bringing Center Parcs to the UK as well as helping stir Alton Towers towards its current success, along with Northern Powerhouse Developments’ chairman Gavin Woodhouse, are the two men behind this ambitious project.
The resort will span over 500 acres of hills and forests in South Wales’ Afan Valley, and will cater to the most adventurous holidaymakers in the UK.
One of the focal attractions already confirmed for this unique adventure park is The Bear Grylls Survival Academy, which consists of a variety of endurance circuits and challenges designed by survivalist Bear Grylls to test the physical and mental strength of its contenders. The Academy has already proved incredibly successful since its launch in 2012, and incorporating it as a permanent feature of the resort will help take the adventure concept to the next level.
“The arrival of The Bear Grylls Survival Academy is a huge boost to the resort and will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of what is going to be an incredible visitor experience,” said project leader Gavin Woodhouse.
As well as the Academy, the resort will include three outdoor ski slopes, canopy zip wires and tree-top adventures, bike trails, an Xtreme sports centre, an aqua park and a trampolining centre, as well as more relaxing features such as a spa and a variety of bars and restaurants to relax after an adrenaline-packed day.
“The UK holiday market is ready for a new leisure concept and we believe Afan Valley Adventure Resort is coming at exactly the right time. In recent years we have seen a growing number of independent stand-alone experiences proving hugely popular but there is nowhere that delivers all of these experiences in one destination and Afan Valley will do just that.”
The resort will also include a 100-bedroom hotel and 500 luxury lodges, which will allow visitors to recharge before another day full of activities.
