The site in question is to the west of the village of Hellifield adjacent to the train station, near the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The plans submitted by Ballan, if approved would see 300 lodges on the 78.5 acre site.

Square footage and detailed proposals have not yet been assessed but it is thought each lodge would be around 6.5m high.

A combined leisure and hotel for the site has also been proposed on the site, which has long been designated for tourism development, is also adjacent to Gallaber Leisure Park and Caravan site.

The site will cost £100m according to planners, and deliver around 500 permanent positions.

Initial discussions on the development were launched with Craven District Council in 2009 during talks on a previous iteration of the scheme.
